2021 was, in a lot of ways, similar to 2020 and even more accelerated the internet and the digital world in general. Even if you work mainly offline like running a small shop or garage, being online is a must these days and I will tell you an interesting story and a lesson that happened to me this week later in this article to prove it.

But before we get into digital marketing ideas for 2022 I want to talk about three pillars that all these ideas stand on in my opinion that I will pay close attention to also myself in 2022.
Pillar 1 - Simplification
The web is getting more and more complex and that is why you must simplify, especially if you are just getting started online. You don’t have to be on every social media platform or have a website with hundreds of pages.
Choose what is most important for you and focus on this. If you are already online and feel overwhelmed simplify and eliminate what is not working or automate certain activities to free up more time.
The online world is evolving all the time and you must too. The growing number of channels and content types makes our online activities more difficult to manage than ever before. Therefore it is a good idea to take a look at what we do online and decide on our areas of focus. So instead of managing five different social media accounts maybe it is better to focus on two or three?
Instead of posting every day, maybe it is better to post 2–3 times a week? How to we know if this is a better approach? I will talk about it in pillar number 3 but the first step is to simplify and scale down especially if you felt overwhelmed in 2021 and you feel that despite a huge amount of effort over the last 12 months you didn’t really gain much ground online. So step and pillar number 1 is to scale down online activities and simplify.
